Arthur Lee "Charlie Brown" Dugar, 76, a resident and native of Patterson, LA, passed away on Friday September 27, 2019 at 8:19 AM at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, LA.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 1:00 PM until funeral services at 3:00 PM at the Zion Chapel AME Church, 1511 Cherry St. in Patterson, LA.
Arthur was baptized at an early age and attended Hattie A. Watts colored school. Arthur united in holy matrimony to Margaret Hunter and later moved to Houston Tx and there was born five children, Arthur Lee Dugar Jr., Herman "Peter Gunn" Dugar, Lindsey Dugar, Laura Watkins and Samantha Dugar all of Houston Tx. Arthur later returned home and became a father of another daughter Laquana Hawkins of Patterson La.
Arthur enjoyed singing, dancing, riding his bike, talking about the good old days and the Bible. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. I he was around, he was the life of the party with jokes and teasing. You would often see him helping people anyway he could, if it was helping them in their yard or in their home. He also loved to eat most of the time you would see him with a plate in his hand or trying to get one.
Arthur worked for the city of Houston while living there and when he returned to Patterson he worked as a fisherman for years until he retired. He later begin working as a cement layer until he passed away.
Arthur leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Margreat of Houston Tx; his children Arthur Lee Dugar Jr., Lindsey Dugar and Samantha Dugar all of Houston Tx. and Laquana Hawkins of Patterson La; six sisters, Wanda Faye Parks and Norma Lee West both of Houston Tx, Kearney W Hall of Patterson La, Phyllis Ann Guidry of Thibodaux La, Marie Naverro Lecompt and Ada Naverro Young of Lake Charles La; three brothers, Bruce Augustine Sr. of Houston Tx, Wayne Williams Sr. and Leon Williams both of Patterson La; two god-children, Darius Declouet of Patterson La and Sonia Gary of New Iberia La; three devoted friends, Grant Hunter, Dan Roberson and Andrew Grogan all of Patterson La; eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Arthur was preceded in death by: his grandmother, Victoria Levy who raised him; his parents, Laura Levy and Charles Dugar; his biological father, Willie "Cutter" Williams Sr.; one daughter, Laura Watkins; one son Herman "Peter Gunn" Dugar;, four brothers, Ronald Naverro, Joseph Naverro, Willie Williams Jr. and Malcomb Jerome Williams Sr.: three sisters, Audrey Dugar, Billie Joyce Smith and Elaine Grogan and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
