Effie Lee Feist Green, 90, a resident and native of Jeanerette, LA, passed away on Tuesday July 3, 2018 at 12:20 PM at her residence.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 7:30 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul United Methodist Church 1405 Annie Moore Drive Jeanerette, Louisiana 70544, with the Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. beginning at 10:00 AM. A Celebration of Life, celebrating the life of Mrs. Effie F. Green will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor Darrell W Briggs Sr., officiating the services. Entombment will follow funeral services in the Beau Pre Cemetery in Jeanerette, LA.
Mrs. Green was a Retired St. Mary Parish Educator, and a Veteran of the United States Air Force receiving an honorable discharge.

On Tuesday, July 03, 2018 Effie Lee Feast Green departed this life for a better home in glory. A human spirit has taken its flight at the call of the foundation of the world, by an all – wise and loving God. Our dear sister has fallen in life’s uphill battle… Acknowledged the Supremacy of Death… yield to a Victory which no one can Resist… an entered upon a complete Rest… No more sickness…no more pains, trials and tribulations… All will be peace and joy forever more… In that land where you never grow old.
The second born of nine children and blessed with longevity, Effie was born on August 24, 1927 in Jeanerette, Louisiana to the late Joseph Feast and Maryland Grant Feast. A resident of Jeanerette her entire life, she entered into holy matrimony to the late Douglas Green Sr. Their union was blessed with three children, Joey, Douglas Jr. and Kristi.
Effie, a faithful servant of Christ and a lifetime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church Jeanerette, Louisiana, willingly served wherever she was called and needed in many capacities including: President of the Communion Steward Ministry for many years, composing and printing order of service programs for Sunday morning Worship and other special church events.
Effie became a member of Iota Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. where she believed in rendering service to all mankind.
She was reared and educated in Iberia Parish and was a graduate of Jeanerette Colored High School. Following graduation Effie enlisted in the United States Air Force. At the completion of her duty and receiving an honorable discharge, she then enrolled as a student at Grambling College and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Library Science. After graduating she returned home to serve as a Librarian in the St. Mary Parish School System. During this time she continued her pursuit of education by earning a Master’s Degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Effie retired after 25 years in the St. Mary Parish School System.
Effie also had a passion for hairstyling and enrolled in La Bell’s Beauty School where she received her Cosmetologists Degree.
A kind, loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she was a confidante counselor and spiritual resource for many. Effie will be remembered for her determined will, positive outlook, wisdom and wit.
Despite the circumstances, she was always in control and faced challenges with confidence at all times in the faith of her God and her love for family and all mankind.
Effie leaves to cherish memory her beloved children, Joey, Douglas Jr., and Kristi Green Bouie (Herman) all of Jeanerette, LA; her grandchildren, Jamacia Miller, Alsha Colar, Zabriel Green, Giselle Green, Mariah Harrison (Medgar), Jade Smith (Jonas), Jared Green (Ashley), Diamond Green and Douglas Green III, eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Harry Vange Feast of Jeanerette, LA; one sister, Wanda F. Ceaser (Staford) of Ashton, LA.; two sisters–in–law, Shirley R. Feast and Rena P. Feast both of Jeanerette, LA; her god-children. Ardieth (Cookie) Augustine of Houma, LA. and Flonetta B. Alexander of Ashton, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Green Sr.; her parents, Joseph and Maryland Feast; two sisters, Doris F. Solco and Mary F. Connor (Willie); four brothers, Rayford, Arnold, Warren, and Curtis Feast; parents-in-law, Jack Green Sr. and Agnes Green; sisters–in–laws, Geraldine Feast, Barbara Martin and Estelle Green and her brothers–in–law, Jack Jr. and Alfred (AJ) Green.
