Althea Michelle (Thomas) Covington

Althea Thomas Covington 60, a native and resident of Morgan City, LA  passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 10:28 AM at her residence.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Jones Funeral Home, 715 Sixth St. Morgan City, LA from 9:00 AM until funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Althea leaves to cherish her memories; her husband, Charlie Hilton Covington of Gatesville, VA, a daughter, Shanica Welsh (Dean) of Morgan City, LA; two brothers, Gregory (Yolanda) Thomas, Sr., of Houma, LA, Frelia Thomas of Schriever, LA; two grandchildren, Kennede Maize and Karter Welsh both of Morgan City, LA; two uncles, Andy Thomas of Washington, LA, and Herresson (Kathy) Jones of Beaumont, TX; godmother, Kathy (Herresson) Jones; two nieces, Jamila (Marcus) Smith of Crowley, TX, Krystal Gant of Opelousas, LA; a nephew, Gregory (Rosetta) Thomas , Jr., of     New Orleans, LA; two special cousin, Joyce Jones Carter of Gray, LA, and Thelma Henry Taylor of Lafayette, LA; childhood friend, Olivia Madise of Morgan City, LA, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Althea was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, her parents, Louis and Lillian Jones Thomas, a brother, Grayling Thomas, a godchild, Jonathan Singleton, mother-in-law, Joyce Covington and many maternal and paternal aunts and uncles.
