Deacon Henry Butler, Jr., 85, a resident and native of Verdunville, LA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 12, 2021 at Ochsner Medical Center.
Deacon Butler will lie in state for a public walkthrough visitation on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the Nazarene Baptist Church Highway 182 Verdunville, LA from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM. (All visitors are asked to adhere to the CDC/local regulations by wearing masks and practicing social distancing). A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM with Associate Pastor Terry Gray, officiating the services. Burial will follow graveside services in the Nazarene Church Cemetery in Verdunville, LA. Butler of Verdunville, LA; two sons, Dornatious (Bonnye) Butler of Pensacola, FL and Wendell Butler of Verdunville, LA; one daughter, Beverly (Terry) Drexler of Verdunville, LA; step-children, Roosevelt (Charlestta) Toussaint, Jr. of Dallas, TX, Laura (Walter) Batiste of Cade, LA, Antony (Geraldine) Toussaint of Charenton, LA and Bryan (Tory) Toussaint of New Iberia, LA; three brothers, Hilliard Butler and Lloyd Butler of Verdunville, LA and Floyd (Yolanda) Butler of Baton Rouge, LA; twenty grandchildren - including two special ones, Leighana Drexler and Jordan Toussiant; eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Deacon Butler was preceded in death by his wife, Merdis Henderson Butler; parents, Henry Butler Sr. and Cecil Lewis-Butler; two sisters, Wanda Lee and Lucille Garrett; five brothers, Leroy Butler, Sr., Johnny Butler, William Butler, Paul Butler, and Joseph Butler and mother-in-law, Emma Dell Pierre.
