Herbert Joe Willoughby, 88, a resident of Labadieville, LA, passed away peacefully on Friday September 3, 2021 at 5:39 AM at Ochnser St. Ann Hospital in Raceland, LA.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the St. John Baptist Church 3659 Highway 1, Napoleonville, LA 70390 from 9:00 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM. Dr. Louis Clark will officiate the services. (All visitors are asked to adhere to the CDC/local regulations by wearing masks and practicing social distancing). Military Honors will be rendered at the beginning of the services. Burial will follow funeral services in the St. John Church Cemetery.
Herbert was a veteran of the of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War in the Army, as a cannon shooter and received an Honorable Discharge.
Memories of Herbert Joe will forever remain in the hearts of his wife, Ethel Ratliff Willoughby; six sons: Charles Bernard (Stacey), Oliver Bernard (Roxie) of Thibodaux, LA, Eric Bernard of Tunica, LA, James Smith, Resmond Smith and Desmond Smith all of Labadieville, LA; six daughters: Alice Williams, Lydia Bernard, Danielle Edwards (Kentrell), Sandy Butler and Carol Butler all of Napoleonville, LA., Debbie Johnson of Labadieville, La, two sisters Myrtle Campbell of Thibodaux, LA, Lula Willoughby of Napoleonville, LA, one brother, Bernell Williams of Napoleonville, LA, six sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Herbert was preceded in death by his: former wife, Marie Willoughby; one son, Robert Bernard Sr.; parents, Alvin and Louise Willoughby; two sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Eula Castine; two brothers, Alvin Willoughby Sr and Morris Willoughby; son-in-law, Willard Ratliff, Jr. and sister-in-law, Mable Johnson.
