Ora Lee Brashear Garner, 69, a resident and native of Morgan City, LA, passed away peacefully on Thursday May 12, 2022 at Ochsner Baptist in New Orleans, LA.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday June 4, 2022 at the Mt. Era Baptist Church 406 Lawrence Street Morgan City, LA from 9:00 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM with Minister Anthony Stewart, Officiating. Burial will follow funeral services in the Morgan City Cemetery.
Ora Lee is survived by her: devoted companion of seventeen years, Michael Merrick of Morgan City, LA; a daughter, Natasha Garner Francois (James Naverre) of Morgan City, LA; three granddaughters, Za’Kari Valentine, Za’Nayah Valentine and Za’Riah Dauntain all of Morgan City, LA; a grandson, Zaye Naverre; one brother, Raymond (Gladys) Ruffin of Morgan City, LA; two sisters, Suzette Brashear of Lafayette, LA and Mary Pool Collins of Morgan City, LA; stepmother, Idela Brashear of Morgan City, LA; three aunts, Berita Ruffin of Morgan City, LA, Vergie Seymour of Carson, CA and Linda Coleman of Los Angeles, CA; four uncles, Maurice (Donna)Ruffin of Patterson, LA, Irvin Ruffin, Sr. of New Iberia, LA, Marvin Ruffin of Morgan City, LA and Dale Watson of Charleston, WV and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ora Lee was preceded in death by her: son, Edward Robinson; mother, Cassie Mae Cooper; stepfather, Edward Cooper, father, William Brashear; brothers, Alton Brashear and Ronald Brashear; sisters, Barbara Hall and Gwendolyn Brown' brothers-in-law, Eddie Lee Brown and Tillman Hall, a sister-in-law, Lynn Owens; two nephews, Alton Castille, Sr. and Fred Owens and a niece, Leah Owens
