Shanta Michele Norman, a native and resident of Houma, LA passed away peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2023.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Living Gospel Church 140 Corporate Drive Houma, LA. Burial will follow at the St. Francis #2 Cemetery.

Shanta is survived by her mother, Ethel Johnson Banks and stepfather, Andrew Banks, both of Houma, LA; her sons, Miles Saxton Steel and Landon Legend Simmons, both of Houma, LA; her daughter, Layla Nevaeh Simmons of Houma, LA; her brother, Michael Wayne Norman, Jr. of Laplace, LA; and two sisters, LaToya (Quinton) Williams Nixon of Cypress, TX and Skyla (Wilshawn Jones) Welch of Houma, LA; maternal aunts, Ida Hawkins, Alice Williams, and Ethel Ray, all of Houma, LA; maternal uncles, Johnny Johnson, Lynwood Johnson of Compton, CA, Troy Johnson and Warren "Turk" Johnson, both of Houma, LA; paternal aunts, Mabel Charles of Houma, LA, Loretta Hartman of Dallas, TX, Sandra Norman of New Orleans, LA, and Charlene Norman of Oakland, CA,  along with a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michal Wayne Norman, Sr., maternal grandparents, Jessie "Buddy" Johnson, Sr. and Jeannette Scott Johnson, and her paternal grandparents, Charlie Williams and Bertha Stoves.
